What should I do to get get admission at the UG level?

Stream to Choose at +2 level

Science Stream with Maths. Although any +2 stream with Maths is sufficient for appearing in NATA, learning Physics at +2 level would give you an advantage. For JEE main and advanced , +2 with PCM is compulsory.

Subjects to focus

Subjects to focus: Maths with emphasis on Trigonometry, Algebra and Calculus. Generally 50% marks in aggregate is required for admission and higher cut offs may be expected at good institutions. Therefore you should also prepare well in all subjects to score a good aggregate score.

Some skills to acquire

You should have strong drawing skills, you’ll need to be comfortable with freehand drawing and with thinking and drawing in 3D.

Nirankari Rajmata Scholarship Scheme Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 90% marks in class XII Board examination and are enrolled for a UG program in any technical or professional course in an institution recognised by the state/central government. The annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3.5 lakhs.
Central Merit cum means scholarship for minority community students pursuing professional and technical courses Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh.
State Merit Scholarship, Kerala
  • Applicant must be a first-year student studying in an undergraduate/ postgraduate course in a government/ aided college or university department.
  • Applicant must have score 50% or above in the qualifying examination.
  • The annual family income must not be more than Rs 1 Lac.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1.00 lakh.
Postgraduate - (PG)
AICTE PG scholarship Scheme Post Graduate scholarship is entitled to MArch students who are admitted to the course with a valid GATE/GPAT score at the time of admission.
J. N. Tata Endowment awards The J. N. Tata Endowment awards a one-time loan scholarship to Indian nationals only at the beginning of the course for full time Postgraduate/Ph.D./Postdoctoral studies/Research Fellowships studies abroad, in all fields. Applicants should be graduates of a recognised Indian University and have secured at least 60% in their last academic examination.

Other Career fields after Architecture in India

Education & Training – Professor of Architecture

To enter this field as an Associate Professor in a degree level architecture institution, you should have a First class B Arch degree and at least one year experience or a first class M Arch degree.

To enter at higher positions you may require a doctorate and/or more years of experience.

After completing B Arch, you can do M Arch (and PhD if you so desire) and apply for professorship in Colleges of Architecture.

In addition, architecture teachers must have the following qualities:

  • Computer knowledge.

If you are inclined towards design and feel that architectural design is not your interest, you can go for the Master of Design (M.Des.) programme after B.Arch.

Admission is based on Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) which assesses the candidate’s aptitude for design, involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication, and problem solving skills. CEED is conducted by IIT Bombay. It is a qualifying examination for admission to Master of Design (MDes) programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Kanpur.
