How to become a philosopher?

Step 1
Take humanities stream with philosophy at plus two level

Taking humanities stream with philosophy as a subject or any other stream at the 10+2 level and securing a good aggregate score will enable you to pursue higher education in the field of philosophy.

Step 2
Take B.A. in Philosophy

After plus two, you can go for a BA in philosophy which is usually three years graduation long.

Step 3
Take M.A. in Philosophy

After completing your BA, you can go for a masters in philosophy which is of 2 years duration. It should be noted that noted graduates from other disciplines as well are eligible for admission into post graduate courses in philosophy.

Step 4
M Phil and PhD

After pursuing a master’s in philosophy you can go for M.Phil and PhD. M Phil will be of 1 to 2 years in duration and PhD will take a minimum of 3 Years. Obtaining a doctoral degree would be required in order to build a career in the academia.

  • An undergraduate degree with at least 50% marks in case of candidates from the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, and 55% marks in case of candidates from fields of Sciences and Technology.
